RESVERATROL

Found in red grapes and wine, resveratrol has been credited with extending life span in a variety of organisms.
Resveratrol mimics the life extending properties of caloric restriction by activating enzymes called sirtuins,
which influence a variety of aging -related metabolic functions.
Sirtris was found in 2004 after Dr.David Siclair of Harvard Medical School began publishing findings regarding
resveratrol 's remarkable potential benefits. Sirtris stated goal is to discover and develop small molecules
with anti aging potential, and its research efforts have largely focused on enhancing the potency of resveratrol-
based compounds.
Recently, pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmith Kline announced that it would acquire all outstanding shares
of Sirtris pharmaceuticals for $ 750 million in order to cash in on the life extending promise of resveratrol
based compounds. GSK wants to create a Rx drug from resveratrol compounds in order to treat age related
disease. GSK hopes to modify the resveratrol molecule to further bolster its bioavailability and effects.
Such a modification would also allow the drug company to patent the new molecule and market it exclusively.

World's First Parkinson's Disease Diagnostic Test

Scientists at Melbourne,s Howard Florey Institute have developed a cost-effective diagnostic test for PD.
The gene sequencing chip screens 17 genes in all, incl. the 6 known PD genes plus some other suspects
in one simple test, at a cost of US $500 ( conventional DNA sequencing of the 6 known PD genes costs
US $ 4.000). The test involves collecting a sample of blood or saliva.

I wanted to have Blog for some time now. I was so happy to finally find the way.
I wish to share my knowledge with you.
You can now e-mail me any questions, and I will be able to answer in my Blog.
As I will get more experienced , the blog will be more advanced.
This is just the trial, but I think I like it.

Flaued study on estrogen replacement

A recent study on estrogen replacement which included women without
any consideration to their genetic predisposition , gene mutations or exposure
to evironmental toxins was not very scientific , and inacurate. Nevertheless has
managed to scare many women
Recently I saw a new patient in my office. She was extremely good looking, 70 years
young lady. She owned her good looks to plastic surgery which she underwent five years ago.
Her complaints were related to the brownish , and sometimes pinkish vaginal discharge.
She told me proudly that she never needed estrogen replacement.
My initial thought was that she may suffer from atrophic changes-vaginal and uterine caused
by severe estrogen depravation.
However during transvaginal sonography, my suspicion was that of endometrial cancer.
(the uterine lining was markedly thickened, instead of being pencil thin)
Endometrial biopsy disclosed poorly differentiated adenocarcinoma. In view of her
advanced cancer I referred her to an oncologist.
Should this patient have been included in this study a few years ago, estrogen would be blamed
for causing her cancer.. It is time we should seriously consider the genetic predispositions to
certain cancers, and stop blaming estrogen for everything.
If the cancer occurred when she was taking estrogen the estrogen would modify this cancer
to be well differentiated, which means-less malignant, and her survival rate would be better.

Virus with anticancer effects

Researchers at Stanford University, have produced a genetically engineered virus
with specific anticancer effects.
Known as Onyx-015, it attacks cancer cells while leaving normal cells unaffected.
In trials on patients with intestinal cancers that had spread to the liver and could
no longer be treated by surgery.
Onyx-015 was injected into the liver artery.
It successfully shrank the tumors, thus prolonging the patients' lives.

Do not ignore your HPV infection

HPV infection necessitates colposcopy with biopsies of the cervix to grade the lesion.
Type 16/18 may lead to cervical cancer if infection is not properly controlled.
Just repeating a Pap smear without tratment is very dengerous. Although the Pap smear may reverse
to normal , you may be diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer in a few months or years.
Then ,this will necessitate removal of the uterus and the ovaries.
Also you should have Estronex test, which will tell you how likely your HPV may progress to cancer.
We have a supplement that helps you to reverse that risk. Although there is a possibility that your Pap smear
will became normal after the treatment alone, in some case, when estronex test is not satisfactory,
you will require a supplement to achieve this. In my experience , it takes on an average 3 months to restore
the cervix to health.
